1. When do we collect personal data?

If you order goods through our customer portal, we require personal data. When you enter your data, you will be asked whether we may save your data and use it to announce news or special offers via newsletter, email, or post. You can revoke your consent at any time online, by email, or by contacting our customer service team by phone.

We also require personal data if you wish to participate in a Mediagon competition, event, or promotion. We may also ask you for your personal data as part of surveys to improve the quality of our services. For computer-based data analysis, your data will be anonymized so that no conclusions can be drawn about you personally.

2. What personal data do we collect?

We collect personal information that you provide to us or that is automatically generated or manually collected when you interact with Mediagon.

Identity information

3. Why do we process personal data?

We process personal data for the purpose stated when the data was collected (see Chapter 1). In addition, we process personal data for fundraising, where permitted and where we consider it appropriate, and where the fundraising relates to the following grounds, for which we have a legitimate interest or for which we have obtained your prior consent:

Processing purposes related to communication

  • Providing, managing and conducting customer communications by post and electronic means of communication;
  • Commercial communications by mail and telephone, fax, email, voice messages, text messages (SMS), picture messages (MMS), video messages or instant messaging;

  • Processes – for example, shopping – are simplified. We can use insights from customer behavior analysis to continuously improve all our product and service offerings.
  • Insights from the analysis of customer behavior enable an individualized and personalized approach and help to avoid unnecessary advertising;
  • Sending individualised and personalised advertising by post and telephone, email, voice messages, text messages (SMS), picture messages (MMS), video messages or instant messaging;

8. What personal data do we share with third parties?

We neither sell nor share your personal data with third parties. This applies to partner companies we engage to process your order, maintain the website, or assess the quality of our services. The employees of these partner companies, like Mediagon employees, are bound to confidentiality.

Most of these partner companies are based in Switzerland or in the member states of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA).

Data may be transferred to countries outside Switzerland and the EU. In this case, it may be transferred to a country with equivalent data protection in accordance with an adequacy decision by the responsible data protection authority.

If we wish to transfer data to a country that does not have an adequate legal level of data protection, we will ensure an adequate, legally required level of protection through appropriate contracts, apply legal exceptions or obtain your consent before the transfer.

9. Email campaigns and newsletters

Mediagon informs you about current topics and invites you to events via email. We will only send you our Mediagon newsletter if you have given us your consent (e.g., on the website). You can unsubscribe from the Mediagon newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in every newsletter.

Where permitted, we integrate some visible and invisible image elements into our newsletters and other marketing emails. These elements, when retrieved from our servers, allow us to determine whether and when the email was opened. This allows us to analyze whether our communications are being read and are relevant to you. You can block this function in your email program.

10. Cookies/Tracking in connection with your use of our website

We reserve the right to revise, change, or otherwise supplement this Privacy Policy at any time. The most current version published on our website will apply. If we make changes, we will post them promptly on our website. Your visit to our website constitutes your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. To the extent that this Privacy Policy is part of a contract with you, we will notify you of any updates or changes by email or other appropriate means.
